Part One is better imo

One of the first times I paid attention to costume design.

Part 1 is the best written movie of all time. S*** is perfection.

Part 1 is my favourite Christmas movie to throw on its more cozy and lighthearted in contrast. Michael laying low in Sicily living his dream life eventually settling down accepting this new reality only to have it taken away from him some scenes later

Part 2 stakes were much higher, more nuanced more ambitious s*** was war mode the moment you hit play. It’s more of a character study that parrells Michales management of the family/business with Vitos. We see Mike delve into darkness grow colder by the minute as he inches closer to the truth of his conspirators out to get him.

Tbh it really depends on the vibe I’m always in the mood for either or but if I had to pick a definitive part 1 just edges it out as a product prefer it’s more streamlined narrative for simplicity sake this is the one you can throw on with the fam and have everyone call it the most goated movie ever
Part 2 is something I personally enjoy watching solo with undivided attention it’s always something new you pick up on which makes it the optimal experience

I think 1 edges 2 just for the characters

Vito, Sonny, Luca, Clemenza etc.

Then if you’re talking antagonist I prefer Sollozzo and Barzini to Hyman Roth.

Part 2 is pretty much Michael’s movie along with the Vito flashbacks. Part 1 gives more attention to other characters.

2 is still the answer

Part 1 is probably more "perfect", but part 2 is the more enjoyable watch.

1 for brando's performance

2 is better. But both are beyond legendary.

2 is better to me because of the depth. It's past and present intertwining with masterful pacing. More intrigue, more conflict. It's a better character study on both Vito and especially Michael.
