halfway through, the exposition dumps and convoluted plots and dialogues were a bit rough to get into at first and def an example of something you can do in a manga but not as well in a time-based medium...

that said I really love the art style and animation and it's a refreshingly different take on this world coming from movies. I am lowkey struggling a bit w following every detail of the plot but enjoying the ride nonetheless. the kawaii AI robot in particular is a rly fun character. the best part for sure though is the hodgepodge of art and animation styles, it feels very free and fun, not quite FLCL but it has some of that spirit.

I haven't kept up much w anime at all and haven't even been very interested in any new ones in a while, it's cool to have something new I genuinely enjoy (Lazarus last year was cool but a bit underwhelming..)

but yeah - i honestly kinda gave up on the details of every conflict and just honed in on what each mission was actually about, which was very tough but definitely intentional on their part.

there were a couple gorgeous episodes

try DAN DA DAN - its weird but boy is it an instant classic.
