i think the gameplay style either is not for me or has to grow on me more

its very clunky in terms of movement and i am more use to a fluid system. im sure the people that have been playing the s*** for 20 years can move like water around this b****, but i didnt grow up with an xbox and i got bored playings gears 1. So it may just be its not really for me

never played gears either but i felt like that within the first like 2 hours and then i started picking up on things after that

i think some interactions in this game is weird as s*** though like sometimes it feels like whenever i land aim down sight shots with the shotgun it does like no damage but if i hipfire close enough i get instagibs lmao. not sure if cos of the beta or thats how the game is

i also tried mouse + keyboard and controller but it feels like for mkb they made the game feel as clunky as possible to compensate for size of your character but on controller it feels mad fluid, idk its kinda weird but i got used to it

not sure how this game will fare for casuals

it feels kinda dumbed down so that a casual could play it but you still kinda have to play the game on its terms, can see the movement being a bit of a turnoff for people that arent patient enough to adapt to the gameplay

honestly think putting this on gamepass is a bad move partially for that reason but thats for another discussion

the game doesnt perfectly serve casual or e sports

would it sell off game pass ? yes but part of the value of gamepass is at least one major game so makes sense its gears especially since call of duty only for sale now

yep some previous games have dealt with this issue but its most aparrent here. Do not aim down sights most of the time just blind fire it or hip fire it. Does it make sense ? No.

really hope this doesnt end up like halo infinite where its decent at launch but very buggy and they leave it hanging for 3-4 months with no fixes, the 6 maps only at launch worries me.

this is genuinely fun ive been feining for a new shooter to play for a while

there are more modes and maps in a call of duty beta than gears e day will have at launch or likely for multiple months

    that is insane.

yeah its in like a weird position it feels like its made for casuals but you still have to get over the hurdle of learning how to play the game and idk how long casuals would even be willing to learn/stick with the game long enough to figure it out. only seen a few pros play the game and they dont seem particularly big on it either or have a lot of criticisms about it

i know they get fronted money by microsoft for putting a game on gamepass but i just dont think its gonna work long term really + ive grown to not like game pass as a model as it incentives people to not buy and support games or devs

the animations and getting into and out of cover isnt smooth. There is only one animation for stepping over cover which feels odd. Like at times fighting the movement more than the other players. Then fighting the natrual reaction to aim down sights with the shotgun which as you said feels entirely less effective than just looking at them and blind firing. Because it makes no sense and its one of the few games where it genuinely feels like the gun does less damage when you aim down sights.

To be honest part of Xbox issues stems from some bloated game budgets or what at times feels like money laundering by game companies because the coalition will do all this talk about graphics and eye lash physics but i would rather the game looked less great and had more multiplayer maps and launch

no execution or warzone at launch and people just cleared this no questions asked. No old maps at launch. Unless I am missing something less executions. Part of the soul is there but part of it is not. Some key weapons there some not . Maps in beta only so well designed

Going back and doing a prequel instead of trying to fix the dogshit situation you put this franchises story in is such a weak move though. Eventually you gotta make a sequel coalition! Dont hide from it forever!

The Coalition, 343 - Microsoft really repurposed these studios' whole identities to popular franchises they owned just for them to make inferior games compared to their predecessors and ruin those franchises

Like it’s cool for this game I guess but they left gears on a cliffhanger for 7 years now. It’ll be a decade at least before the next games released lol.

Yeah I dont really understand the shotgun damage, I get one tapped by guys, but i try to do the same thing up close and it takes three hits

The horde mode kinda fun tho, would be that on its only here and there tbh

  • One of the greatest franchises imo

I'll never forget my brother coming home with GoW2 and it blew my lil mind

20 minute wingman matchmaking, GHOS7 187, lag switching, getting wiped out on Avalanche mid fight, trying to perfect wall bouncing, KoH grenade swinging xp farming, rushing to the longshot just to get my head popped and crying cause my ping was diabolical 3 figures, cussing niggas out for using hammer of dawn maaaan

    So many memories

the guardian review leaked early, they gave it a 3 out of 5 (same score as Wolverine)

    • Headline: "E-Day boasts the best combat in 20 years of Gears games – but everything surrounding it is disappointing."

    • "The bulk of it is spent in large, open areas stuffed to the gills with collectibles. There are hundreds of them and you get a little audio chime whenever one is close. At one point, there was a particularly poignant cutscene where one of the emotionally stunted characters finally lets it all out and, just as the game transitioned from this emotional beat back to gameplay, the chime drowned out the character's trauma to tell me there was something to pick up nearby."
