3 seasons in and maybe 2 mid episodes total. We’re witnessing Donald glovers peak. He won’t top Atlanta. I always thought bro was a bit corny but all is forgiven for blessing us with this show
Nah this facts I deadass was never a fan of Gambino for those reasons. BTI was coo but this show and Awaken my love turned me to a full out stan of everything he does
Black Panther 2 is the first indication of a timeskip
Didn't notice on my first watch
Lol fr? That was the first thing I noticed. It immediately told me “ok this isn’t Darius as a child”
People who enjoy this show may also like ‘Barry’ on HBO
they’re not similar at all but I just feel like there could be an overlap in audiences. It’s a quality show. Very condensed, doesn’t waste your time, no filler and pure entertainment
bout to start it
I agree with you entirely but loquareeous did not come from a traumatic upbringing lmfao unless you think simple discipline is abuse
heavily disagree bro
his mama wasn’t just disciplining him, she had issues. he would have never gone through what he went through in the episode if his mama hadn’t thrown him out. he didn’t do anything to deserve that s***
Look deeper fam, giving your child away that easy isn’t simple discipline. That shows there was more that went on besides the discipline we seen displayed.
Oh well yea I wasn’t thinking about that part
heavily disagree bro

Honestly the throwing him out thing is a common reaction black parents have to s*** like that. I won’t justify it, but I think it’s really an emotional overreaction thing rather than abuse. Idk maybe it’s normalized to the point where I don’t even find it abusive. I think everything else they did was fine
neither can i but like... she has a bf, why is she up at 4am getting ice?
did you forget the scene before this where she saw something

Nah dat mom is a crazy b**** lol

Definitely normalizing it bro lol. To me allowing your child to be taken away is odeeee, and she had zero care. I know black mothers (including my own) tend to say s*** like “call the cops, f*** it I’ll call em for u” or “let CPS take u away since u wanna call them so bad” especially if u the child make threats like that. But I personally don’t know any moms that ACTUALLY was cool with cops or CPS taken they child away.

What you’re referring to is what I’m talking about. Black parents make those threats all the time but would never actually act on them. I think this showed a more extreme case of that instance, in which case I would say yea that’s definitely wild behavior for a parent.

Yeah there’s a huge difference between talking about it and acting on it and I know this show works in the extreme but I honestly don’t believe they wanted his mom to appear normal. I think it’s a theme of the grass isn’t greener on the other side, sometimes both sides is s***ty and u just gotta accept which side isn’t as s***ty
glad they’re going all out and not phoning in the last season like insecure
Damn, sad to hear insecure is letting up on the gas

when I was a kid and spent one day complaining too much about my family my mom drove me to the nearest orphanage and told me to try to find a better one
no way she woulda let me walk in that door tho

Yup facts lol.

It's an extreme case to bring light to the dysfunctional parenting of black households. The fearful parenting tactics and acting like your kids owe you something when it's you that brought them into the world is something that can create trauma and issues later on in life. One of Kendricks verses in FEAR talks about it too
earn got the same fever as the 'adopted' girl in episode 1
this season but to be trippy
Waiting for them to say its covid lol
S*** made me want to go back to Amsterdam so bad. Haven’t been in like 5 years. Definitely one of those places with a specific energy and rhythm to it. I’d love to live there at some point.
That washcloth scene is so f***in relatable. Never been to a white person's house who used washcloths tbh
Sponges or loafers?

ahhhhhh
What's the backstory on these 2 pics @ColtWilliamsMusic
they find a way to outdo themselves every season. i’m really impressed. this shaping up to be my favorite show of all time
The mom highkey in the wrong too for just giving her son up like that though
