Also I've been listening to the season 3 soundtrack lately. It's full of gems that I wasn't familiar with

A lot of jazzy and dreamy/trippy type songs. Probably the best soundtrack of any season of Atlanta honestly

  • what a ride.
remember the first promos - backwards new person, same old mistakes.
didn't know where this show would go.
glad it paved some roads and created new lanes.

    Finally?!?!?

FX has them all uploaded on their Apple Music page

Not sure if Spotify has it too, but it's definitely nice to have all those songs together in a playlist, gives me a chance to find some good music

Yeah just went and got it all. I guess the ones I had were those bullshit fake joints. I always need it official lol. I loved listening to the first 2 seasons playlists; really put me in a mode

    Easily. Not even a question.
The spectacle in season 2 is better, but the dialogue and characters mattered more in the first season.

Plus the fact that the story no longer matters after season 2 makes this feel like a 2 season show.

It's weird that they never got any actual criticism from that.

It can be surreal and have one off episodes without completely abandoning an overall narrative. And it's clear there was some sort of one in the first 2 seasons.

The last 2 seasons straight up them just existing. They have nothing to strive for.

Which is fine but it makes the show feel a bit disjointed overall

I felt like there was definitely a career narrative for both Alfred and Earn

which is basically the narrative that drives the first two seasons iirc

They need to release this s*** on streaming

    Imma miss this show

Trini 2 Da Bone really hammers home the point this show was made for niggas

Cause only niggas of certain background (or in huge cities like nyc) would get that episode.

A lot of Atlanta's commentary is universal but I didn't catch this episode at all Even without the message tho, the humor is just mid for me. It feels like we were meant to laugh at the Trinidadian accents, someone airdropping that guy a butthole and Bas saying things that an old black woman would say. None of that got a laugh out of me. Chet Hanks cameo was kinda funny I guess

We don't have Popeyes over here but I caught when Al said he knows that manager is mean as hell because of RDC's videos

Nah it doesn't feel like we are supposed to be laughing at accents .
A lot of the humor comes from the white parents being clueless as hell about a culture that their nanny was apart of, meanwhile their son feels right at home .
Also it's funny when you realize the fact that the son will probably grow up to be just like Chet Hanks' character

The monkey butthole was sent to the dad, because of a Trinidadian saying
"Higher monkey climb, the more he show he ass"

Also the quote "This is how we hurt" hits hard

I think the episode really speaks on how open and willing black people can be to share their culture with others... and how some cultures process grief or trauma.
And how much time Sylvia spent taking care of other peoples children and neglecting her own.
