I was the same way in Season 1 and it hit me in Szn2 that it's not that kind of show

Exactly. Folks ITT want Atlanta to be "safe" and "predictable" and do things in the typical, basic story telling format when it's not that kind of show.

fashion killangl i dont think the goal was ever to go w the white ppl are evil thing, the character writing was just rlly weak for the anthology episodes. I like some of the anthology episodes a lot but ngl nobody in them feels like a real person, every single character is a caricature. maybe if it was like 20 minute episodes id be cool w it but bro...
i think they genuinely wanted the white ppl to garner some sympathy in those anthology episodes but just s*** the bed when it came to actually executing sympathetic character writing

what’s funny to me is how a lot of people itt relied on “it’s too deep for you to understand” rhetoric to shut down people’s criticisms. only for one of the writers to come out and say “it’s not even that deep”

normally i love it when creators talk their s*** but this is something that DG doesn’t really get to decide about his show, the public does. like The Sopranos isn’t considered the GOAT show bc David Chase says it is. it’s considered that because the public and TV lovers say it is
