I gotta rewatch the first two seasons because I haven’t in a grip, but as of right now I think Season 3 is easily the best season. Feels like the show really carved out its own unique identity this go around

one of our protagonists shot and killed somebody point black with zero on-screen repercussions in the very first episode of the show and you're out here seriously arguing about human trafficking, this is the stupidest but also the funniest thing ive seen all week

  • May 20, 2022

when they handed that pack to the cook I IMMEDIATELY assumed its either some rare monkey brain or straight up human meat type of s***

im to say the least dumbfounded by this reaction itt like youre trying to create backlash against a fictional character or something

I was so excited for a Van episode but this left me cold. There were some things to like about it but it didn’t hit as well as it could have

the biggest drawback to the anthology feel of the show is that it makes it hard to emotionally connect with the characters that we see so little of and that’s the problem with Van’s S3 arc. it’s been a problem with her character since the beginning tbh

Van has always been my least favorite character. like she’s cool enough but the show has never really dived into her as much as it could have. she was only in 4 episodes of season 2 and only 4 episodes this season. when Zazie said this would be a great season for her, I was really excited but they never gave me enough to invest in her character. so her breakdown and emotional dilemma here didnt resonate with me

And it’s a shame because Van’s depression could have been an amazing arc if it had actually been given care and focus. but obviously the writers had other plans for the season lol. but they do a much better job tackling that topic with Alfred’s character, which is why Woods and New Jazz are Top 5 Atlanta episodes but this one is nowhere those two

I mean, Van literally had a whole mental breakdown here and I didn’t give a F***

y’all can hide behind surrealism excuses all you want to but that is a failure on the part of the writers

in regards to what I did like about this episode…

well it held up thematically. I feel like they were using Van and Candace to lowkey expose IG influencer culture, only with it being taken to extreme in Van’s case

these beautiful women travel the world and have all types of dudes throwing money at them. from the outside looking in, it looks super glamorous and exciting but in reality, there’s no telling what they’re really doing and what drives them to that lifestyle. And we’ve seen this with Van this season. Like when she popped up in White Fashion looking fine as f*** after going ghost on everyone. The implication was that she was living her best life away from Earn and them. Its the same feeling when we first see her posted up with Alex Skarsgard and posing in magazines

but then it quickly becomes apparent that she’s drowning and doing all sorts of ridiculous things to maintain this lifestyle out of emptiness and a lack of fulfillment in her normal life. it’s a deep concept even if I don’t think it stuck the landing in its execution

I also peeped how the other girls were lowkey female versions of Earn, Al and Darius. Candace obviously being Earn, trying to figure out what tf is going on with Van

also, the taller girl Xosha is played by Lakeith’s baby mama. and Xosha is her actual name. she seemed hella familiar to me so I had to look her up and it blew my mind

Those women got on my nerves a little I can't lie. Especially as I am a black woman and I was just smh at some of it...

Only the girl that knew Van was disturbed by what was going on which was weird

classic ep the best this season

van alt euro girl stereotype was done perfect first half ep i really know people just like that

  • May 20, 2022

It was a really enjoyable episode but like wtf is the show anymore. Like Id love Donald to just do an Anthology show because I feel like the first 6 episodes were great then the show lost its plot

I really liked the episode but the show has no real direction to me anymore.

  • May 20, 2022

Side note tho Van killed that, and looked hot asf with the wig and french accent

  • May 20, 2022

best ep of the season, candace girl fine af
idk what this show is anymore tho just random side plots with occasional checking in on the actual cast

people are way too hung up on following the "plot" of this show.

I was the same way in Season 1 and it hit me in Szn2 that it's not that kind of show

Paperboi's entire rise to fame happened off screen that's hilarious to me
