Wait did I see a black hand emoji in the wife’s text? I’m guessing she’s black? Or…..Khloe
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that
Two pretty good episodes back to back but we definitely need to get back to van and the gang
Like I said, I understand that you wanna see more of Earn and them
But did Barbershop, Teddy Perkins or Champagne Papi do anything to further a plot? Did you mind those episodes not addressing a plot
i actually enjoy these types of episodes more than I do the ones with the gang. I think people are overlooking how they connect with the season’s storylines but I can still understand why they are disappointed
we waited 4 years for this season only for half of the episodes to not even feature the main cast so far
“Three Slaps” and “Big Payback” are two of my favorite eps of the whole show so far but I feel like they could have easily been made and released in between seasons. like Euphoria special episodes
anyway, I’m hyped for episode 5
this is the first season where I’m watching the show with commercials and I gotta admit it’s f***ing up my engagement a little bit when I watch
a lot of s*** goes over my head bc I don’t even remember the previous scene when it comes back and I’m too paranoid abt the next break so the flow of the episodes is ruined
I’m def buying all the episodes once I get the chance. and I can tell the season will hit even better on a rewatch just like season 2 did
I realised it when I was watching the episode a second time with a friend.
Now I think of it, getting your due(or reparations) is lowkey the overarching theme of the episode. The same theme was present in Earn's scenes with the wack artist. He made that decision to also get his due, after seeing that picture on the wall of the first loan with the black man/slave in the back, because basically we're due on what is owed us already
And at the same time Darius' scenes explores the white guilt and the overcompensating that stems from it.
I'm sayin' man, people are looking past how good this season is because they're too absorbed in their own expectations of how ''funny'' it should be.
PS: I'm sure there's something to that black ghost story the billionaire told to, but I couldn't really get that one clear myself. But I might give this season multiple watches and crack it all down the line, but yeah, it's dope, it's interesting. ATL always been deeper than it's seemed.
I didn't even watch today's episode yet when I wrote this
This episode was genius too. The conversation with white Earnest near the end was genius in driving everything home.
The fact that he was present in this episode again should tell you that this was Earn dreaming again. The fact that white Earnest was now considers himself to be free of the curse and shoots himself could probably also be related to 'black' Earn in the last episode now feeling free and justified to just saying f*** it and start getting what he feels he as a black man is owed, hence also choosing to just get in on the wack artists' scam in getting money from the oblivious investor.
Very interested in how we'll see Earn move now in the coming episodes now that the cursed, guilt-ridden 'white' Earn is now dead
Do some of you realise that you're just 'upset' with the show because it's not conforming to the idea that you've put in your head of what it should be? Your attachment to your illusory idea is robbing you of the enjoyment you could've had, had you just chosen to sit and deal with what it actually is presenting itself to be, rather than what you want it to be.
Not trying to attack anyone btw. It's just that I'm clearly seeing this being their greatest season so far, yet it's not reaching some people as it should. Is that really on the show though?
Oh yeah, and lastly.
The protagonist in the latest episode is obviously not put in this predicament just because he's white. It's more so to do with his indifference and neglecting to do his due diligence in understanding whether he has a stake in injustice too. He was feigning ignorance to the reality of injustice, which, as the episode showed, will come back to bite you once the truth/justice comes back to light. There were multiple moments prior to him being served, that showed his character.
You either align yourself with truth and justice, or you'll end up being its victim once it comes around. And, it'll always come around.
Lmfaoooo that cutaway to the white people in the office giving him advice was perfect
one of the many reasons why i love this show
writing and cinematography is great
but there's so many little editing cuts like that, that make the show perfect
Oh s*** that's the white boy from ep 1
i swear the white girl earn sleeps with looks like amber from episode 1....
If this season of Atlanta is not hitting for you, it might be going over your head, or you're trying to relate to the experiences of people you cannot really relate to rather than trying to really understand them. If that makes sense. (You can understand one without being able to relate to one imo)
I haven't seen a peep about some of the deeper layers presented in the last episode. Nobody peep how Paperboi, the black rapper, is trying to get his 40 back from the white billionaire? The white billionaire pretending to be asleep to this call and closing his eyes to it? So in turn, the black man/rapper starts sawing down things that this white billionaire holds dear? In this case, the tree.
Bro, every scene in this episode has layers like that. Stop looking for jokes. The reality we live in, which the show is trying to reflect is the joke. That's why scenes might often feel more uncomfortable than funny to some, as that's because you're being made to admit to yourself that reality currently is ridiculous. At least to those who are aware of it.
is it jus me or is this new season not hittin
like things feel really random & the comedy not hittin
can't tell if my taste changed or it's lowkey becoming mid
ur missing out
atlanta went from best tv show to just pure cinema
you're not getting stories with nuance like this is most other popular media
S0301 and 04 are both perfect episodes to me in every way
Wait did I see a black hand emoji in the wife’s text? I’m guessing she’s black? Or…..Khloe
lmaoo this is why i have to go online to talk about the show, i love little s*** like that
Donald sorry to tell ya that episode did not reach sopranos heights as you promised
ur bugged out
but to be fair in his recent interview he said "s3 was good, but s4 is what's really soprano's level" so i think it's only up from here
lmaoo this is why i have to go online to talk about the show, i love little s*** like that
S*** like that is part of why this show is rewatchable. It’s fun to pick out little details lmfao
Weakest episode so far was episode 2 which is still good tbh. Haven’t seen the new one but if it’s similar to the first (in format) I’m sure it will Be great

once the season ends we'll appreciate the pacing.
rn it feels more anthological than a cohesive narrative, but honestly we forget how many episodes of atlanta in first 2 seasons, didn't really drive on overarching narrative as much as it emphasize larger themes

The power of Atlanta
lmaooo
What was Black Mirror about episode 1 ?
I’m just saying vibe wise
