The visuals are so good
It also had everyone wanting to be a five percenter, and that's kinda cool
Alicia > Beyonce
Okay I thought.
I think Alicia's highs are higher musically. Idk if Beyonce has songs that touch your soul the same way Fallin or You Don't Know My Name or Karma do. So I could easily see someone saying this. I think Alicia stayed more true to her sound, even when it went out of style. Alicia, Beyonce, and Usher were the top R&B stars of the 2000s, but when traditional R&B went out Bey and Ush went to the pop and trap world and their music quality declined, a lot actually. Whereas Alicia's also declined, but outside of the Girl On Fire song she stayed true to her roots more.
The issue with this is that while Ush and Bey went left, they actually ended up expanding their catalog with massive pop hits like OMG, Halo, Single Ladies, DJ Got Us Falling and then trap hits like Formation and I Don't Mind. We saw other R&B acts like Kelly Rowland, Ciara, Chris Brown, Ne Yo do the same and it kept them in their prime a bit longer and expanded their catalog to more than just R&B. While some call this trend chasing (technically it is), it still opened doors for these artists that might not have been opened if they stayed in the "dying" genre. Meanwhile Alicia got a bit boring. She never actually stepped away from the piano and evolved like everyone else did and ended up almost getting left behind, but survived because of the strength of her name. Beyonce was able to reinvent herself a bit more while Alicia kind of got stuck where she was.
I do think both are legendary artists who have classic hits, but Alicia seems like a more traditional, old school artist while Beyonce adapted to the trends easier. I also think Alicia is more respected as an artist because of her piano skills and ability she had to mix the classiness of the piano with the soul songs that had that 70s vibe. Beyonce is praised more for being a great entertainer and the visual aspect (her visual albums).
Wow I didn't mean to write this much but you really made me think lol
Edit: And I can't think of a Beyonce album as good as Diary of Alicia Keys so you really could be on to something
Love below?
i understand why people do but i dont count it
if netflix always has the streaming rights to that movie, it's gonna have some tracking in the 2030s
few movies have made me question the nature of reality more, for better or for worse!
its the only street "arthouse" movie out i think
Never thought about it that way.
If I can't tell when one song ends and the other starts within an album then you're f***ing trash as an artist
or, just wait, you're a goddamn r3t@rd
It is poorly written. But aesthetically it was on point
i just view it as one big music video visual with a loose storyline
If I can't tell when one song ends and the other starts within an album then you're f***ing trash as an artist
If you listen to After Hours and are not able to tell when Blinding Lights ends and the title track starts you a dumb ass listener

Chingy would be one of the top 5 rappers, if not higher, in terms of popularity during this era. And prime Luda would be #1
