Catchiness is to a song what s***appeal is to a person. Considering this, as someone who makes fun of folks for not being able to find good music being released, I’m far more empathetic to those folks who feel like there’s an epidemic of songs lacking strong appeal

And yeah if you look at music, both indie and mainstream there’s a lack of strong compositions across the board. Production is on point and going crazy, lyrics are on point and going crazy, vocals…god bless, artistry is as impressive as ever. But the strength of melodic/harmonic compositions has been lacking, and while “music is dead” is a nonsensical sentiment to extrapolate from this, it’s still a valid complaint
