When has he even flirted with a white girl on the og tf
I'm talking about specifically this show. This show steers away from the og. Him liking black women isn't believable in this iteration

Gotcha
This show kinda fell off after the 1st few episodes and they're clearly rushing storylines.
Hilary's struggles with the video being settled in like 2 episodes.
Carlton stopping using after 1 conversation with Will.
Will dropping the whole wanting to find his father after 1 conversation with Geoffrey. (It'll come back though, but it could've/should've lasted more than 1 episode)
even CW drama shows know to keep a slower pacing. This s*** won't last 2 seasons with that pace.

That storyline will obviously come back when the inevitable relapse + parents finally find out about it storyline rolls around, but it's just that they deaded it so quick for now like damn, could've let that s*** breathe for 2 more episodes.

Probably because they were only signed for 2 seasons

I agree bro
I really enjoyed the first 3 or 4 episodes of the series and made hella posts when they dropped expressing my enthusiasm but s*** went left around episode 5 or so. With the exception of Jazz, none of the characters are likeable and most of the drama feels contrived
the thing I dislike most about the show is what they’re doing with Ashley. I don’t have a problem with her liking girls but she has no character or role in this show outside of that
In Fresh Prince, OG Ashley played instruments, took tennis lessons, tried out for cheerleading, she sang, dealt with bullies, bonded with Will, etc. In addition to this, the show explored her romantic life as time went on
They are a variety of directions Bel-Air could have taken with 2022 Ashley but instead, she’s either irrelevant or exploring her sexuality. We don’t really know her that well. It’s mindblowing to me how she and Will have not had ONE interesting scene with each other all season
Im in love with Aunt Viv.
For any “Atlanta” fans ITT, I just realized that the actress playing Aunt Viv is Van’s bougie ass boss from the Juneteenth episode
kinda mindblowing

I'll forgive the Ashley storyline because in the og series, other than the episode where Will taught Ashley to rap and had her quite the band she was irrelevant as well in the 1st season.
(but then again she was way younger than she seems to be in this one)

Ashley wasn’t irrelevant in the OG. She was the least funniest character in the main cast I’ll admit but I always felt like she was really underrated. She wasn’t a useless sitcom kid who just existed to deliver the occasional line, she played a big role in the family dynamic and brought out every other character’s protective instincts even Geoffrey’s.
Unlike her siblings, Ashley also represented the kind of rich kid rebellion that’s very common in real-life. She hated the bougie Bel-Air lifestyle which is why she admired and looked up to Will so much.
My favorite Ashley episode is when she secretly dropped out of private school and enrolled in public school (totally unrealistic btw lol) bc she was bored with that fake rich kid atmosphere. I liked how they used her character to address that in contrast to Carlton and Hilary who were the total opposite
But instead of really exploring that aspect with her character like they’re doing with this new Carlton and Hilary, this show is mainly just keeping her in the background. it’s odd

she also gave us that amazing Tevin Campbell episode in season 1, introduced me to one of my favorite singers

This show is became mid rather fast
Everybody loves when characters have no downsides whatsoever, and do everything right, and also get to f*** your blood relatives ex and be portrayed as doing the right thing
Coco Jones fine as HELL tho so IDC if her story is also kinda mid
Just peeped the first episode. Don’t know how I feel about it, but the dialogue is cringey. I think Will is the cringiest though, and doesn’t across like a decent actor. It ain’t bad though.
Does it get better?
