- They have wiretaps of the members of YSL asking Thug permission to kill a rival gang member
They then flipped a bunch of the YSL members and turned them into snitches so they can testify against Thug, who they believe to be the leader.
All of this is standard with a RICO case.
A RICO was created for the activities that Thug and the YSL gang were allegedly engaging in.
They gave someone 15 years probation and let him out of prison, and he has an attempted murder charge……. In a RICO case

The guy you're referring to is Antonio Sumlin aka Obama
He is one of the guys that asked Young Thug permission to murder YFN Lucci a second time after the first attempt failed.
He's a very important witness, which is why they are willing to let him go and give him 15 year probation in exchange for him testifying against Thug.
Very hard to prove Thug is innocent if he testifies in court in front of a jury that Young Thug gave him the ok to try to kill YFN Lucci. That's why the RICO is so powerful.
In reality, he's most likely going to violate his probation within 15 years anyways and end up back in prison so they are more than willing to give him that plea deal. He's basically living on borrowed time if he goes back to engaging in street activity.
If he somehow manages to be a law obeying citizen and gave up the street s***, then they can say they were successful in reforming a gang member and making him a productive member of society.
It's a win win for them no matter what happens. Everything they do now is to take Thug down. They don't care if everyone else is free. They want to give him life.

evidence you mentioned has been supressed.
ysl(young stoner life) is also a label and they failed to distinguish the two in the indictment. we'll see how this goes
