So, I moved to a new city about a month ago and yesterday the weight of that decision finally hit along with weirdness at work and a number of other personal things, all of which added up and I ended up having the worst panic attack I’ve had in years and was in a physically terrible space as a result for pretty much the entire day. I was really out of it and didn’t even stay up for this drop, one of my most anticipated all year. I was still kind of feeling it this morning and ended up saying f*** it, I need to heal. I called in sick for work, drove to the beach (and I’m a midwestern boy I’m still very much not used to being in driving distance of a beach lmao) and brought my headphones and my dog and ended up walking it for an hour playing this album through. And then I spun it back, and I’ve been spinning it throughout the rest of the day.
S***, I don’t think I’ll ever listen to Danielle, Berwyn, Bleu, Nathan, Kelly, Clara… really the whole album, but especially those tracks the same way ever again. Fred has such a gift for capturing such a wide range of emotions in one song. This was exactly the music I needed to hear right now: empathetic, comforting, and honest about the journey of self-healing no matter the personal experience requiring it. Absolutely love this album and am so grateful to have it now of all times.
