I think the overexposure is a real problem for him honestly - love his stuff for the most part, the whole AL series and Secret Life are some of my favorites of the decade (and Ten Days grew on me to be honest) but the USB stuff is so wildly inconsistent that the whole pop-up, reload, madddddddd of it all gets irritating rather than endearing lol
I think some of the early highlights of USB have been fantastic (even recently I've loved Ambery, Solo, Scared, and Lights Burn Dimmer) but the vast majority are straight up demos that just make me miss the sound of his old stuff. I'm on the same page about his next project, I really hope he takes some time to lock in on an idea and creates a true project even if it's not AL4 - Ten Days stands up as its own thing even if I don't personally love it as much as what came before and I'll take that over say Feisty or I Luv U any day

I agree. It’s always a balance. Sometimes some time away is good.
And like I just saw he’s dropping a remix ep for usb next week. Still love fred but man

They talk about 3 songs from USB, and I gotta say…
I don’t really f*** with the new USB song, but Fred is such a good teacher and has a lot of interesting thought about his process and creating music.The episode actually made me try and give USB a spin again
