Yup like a vanilla coca cola/pepsi in the opening. Super sparkly and fresh. In the mid and drydown the spices/sweeter/warmer notes come out, making it less soda-like.

not a fan of big commercial scents and lining the pockets of millionaires so i was really pleased when i found these local sisters who make perfumes from high desert botanicals and aromatics

This sagebrush and snakeweed one is very smoky and earthy. It uses pinon resin which is just so nostalgic for me growing up in the desert. I constantly get compliments on it.

fr though maybe I'm misunderstanding the quote but like, sure not pinpointing individual notes is not bad but there's obviously some notes that will be more on the forefront, hence why some perfumes are "boozy incense" or "smoky pineapple"

but the way I understood it is that you just won't be able to smell anything specific other than a cloud of scent that smells heavy but smells like nothing at the same time? idk

Youre overthinking it. It just means well balanced, where nothing sticks out like crazy and overpowers the rest. Id say a well blended fragrance is something like br540, sure you get the cotton candy and some woods but overall its blended in a way that you cant point out all the notes without looking it up on fragrantica
