BTI and Royalty would be respected a lot more if it wasn't a lot of cringe before that
As someone who heard his music before bti the fact people love that album and this nigga became a “respected” artist is still super crazy to me lmao.
Cornball ass nigga
he was very cringe but i look back at early gambino fondly for some reason
Simpler times
Simpler times
damn i was just thinking about his early career and how royalty was such an improvement from camp
and then bti being one of my favorite albums the year it came out
So corny
and I'm someone who used to listen to camp alot
No one ever thought camp wasn’t corny that was the point of the album and outro
My d*** is like an accent mark its all about the ovaries
hot like a parked car
i sound weird like
bti is legitimately a classic album
Kanye still drops lines this dumb and gets away with it. If Donald Glover said the sweet and sour sauce line or whatever you'd clown it
It all boils down to how other people feel or perceive it
Before an uninitiated even has the chance to hate it, Kanye is revered as much more of a cultural titan than Gambino to where a lot of niggas just forcing two different reactions to fit in
Tl;dr a lot of niggas didnt know how to dress in school and just going with what everyone else say
Gambino corny lines like that made sense a directly post Kanye and Wayne punchline rap game and its surreal people have already forgotten/cringed away that era of rap (Big Sean / Drake Macy’s flow also comes to mind lol)

Every artist aint supposed to be Boston Richey and thats niggas problem now. Some artists are supposed to be cringe because nigga who else gonna do it.

Insert any trendy artist there, my point doesnt really revolve around that

i guess i dont get the point
you said some artists should be allowed to be cringe
so idk why im not allowed to call him cringe
and i still said i looked back on that time in his career fondly
but some of his lyrics definitely were corny, even at the time

my bad
No one ever thought camp wasn’t corny that was the point of the album and outro
Yeah it was corny then but just reading lyrics now just make me cringe hard
damn i was just thinking about his early career and how royalty was such an improvement from camp

Yup the way he pulled BTI including roll out, artwork etc was surprising which makes me mad he messed up his rollouts consecutively now
One of my fav albums from that year too. So many quality albums dropped in 2013. Artists keep dropping bs nowadays ik I sound like an old man but it's true
First page is unreal i forgot how bad bro was.
Possibly the greatest glow up in music history
