extreme pandering / click baity title
@Butter_Chicken says it best:
Good on him for being so open and honest about the influence of black music, would've been cool if he said this when the songs came out though

This is fair but doesn’t really justify title. And did this guy even talk back then? I thought it was just the Kurt show

Right lmao... everything has influence, Gap Band-ish to Cameo-ish...
Grohl's from the DMV so he's going to be influenced from the DMV sound. He profited from black music and didn't give credit until he milked it dry.
It happens all the time, people steal things that don't belong to em & act as if they're the originators.
There was a thread 2day Iggy Azelia and how she attempts to resemble a sista. Other nationalities attempt to look black until it's time to be us. No one wants to endure slavery, stolen inventions, wealth loss etc. this world wants to profit off the lack of business acumen of the diaspora. It's our curse but God willing it'll be broken off.
The purpose of Op was left to interpretation but this ish trend has to stop.. Come clean

Why should he put up a disclaimer? Cuz he’s white? Does it make you happy being so sensitive and affected all
the time?

He even brings up the point that MJ should’ve paid out royalties
It’s a pretty wild read. Quincy went HAM. Wildly disrespectful, really.
yeah but ppl here wont acknowledge that because it doesn't fit their agenda. It's just Dave Grohl whos the hack, not MJ
Fact is nobody else would have thought to sample those different drum patterns and put them together to make that new one.
Nothing is original, EVERYTHING was influenced by something. Sometimes it’s easier to tell, sometimes it’s harder.
Kudos to him for giving proper credit though! But he should be more proud of his work.
Stealing, no
inspired? Yes
that's like saying every artist that built up a beat on a techno song is a stealer

this
the idea to put disco drums on grunge without anybody noticing
+ lets not act like people listened to nirvana for the drumming
That's not stealing. if that's stealing then what are hip hop producers?
acculturation ≠ appropriation
Good on him for being so open and honest about the influence of black music, would've been cool if he said this when the songs came out though
Yup that's the issue frfr. Not the influence but the fact that he ain't give black artists their flowers at the time. An issue that still continues today
i kno this is a music forum so the encyclopedic nature of these influence things may be useful or interesting to some here
but don’t you think most people just listen to music for the…music as opposed to wanting to hear who influenced this riff, these drums, this particular snare’s reverb, etc
this isn’t a practice that needs to become required. it’s cool when it happens, that’s kinda it tho
Blew my mind lmao
Not stealing tho
It’s stealing but it’s not stealing, he took it and made it dope in his own way
Hip hop producers be downloading pirated kits from reddit and sharing them around and taking drum breaks from records
See this is why op sucks for wording the title
Now these random niggas are exposing themselves :(
