Always interesting to read or see different perspectives on an album whether good or bad
Yeah no I wasn’t admonishing all reviewers but pitchfork is a joke to me
idk why music reviews are treated so different than any other media. now if someone doesn't like pitchfork or another publication's writing or something that's different. but the scores really ain't that big a deal as people make it lol
This is fair, i might check reviews on album of the year if I’m curious, but for an artist I’m really familiar with I don’t feel the need
You can tell on this tape it was like self freedom from the personal trauma and emotional she dealt with in Magdalene. Letting loose by experimenting with modern and popular sounds in music currently
For real.
It kinda makes me sad seeing people s*** on the spoken word interludes and intros just cos I think that's a v crucial part of that if you read her own writing on it.
I think you could justifiably say this less stark or intense or something than her previous albums musically..and yet it strangely has a very endearing power to it on accounts of it being this overt sort of therapy by music.
But either way there's some really good stuff here, parts of it challenging for her best imo, and overall its very solid

Giving me big Negro Swan vibes
that piano on minds of men makes me wet

Well written what you just said, exactly how I feel, the whole aura of the mixtape feels like self therapy especially with the interludes and spoken dialogue throughout
