I think I need a new set of ears, I must not be hearing what they're hearing. Disrespectful that this got the same rating as the masterpiece MBDTF.
This is why scores always fall short of being able to explain or describe music accurately. They’re so completely different and appeal to different types of listeners but end up being compared as an equivalency
ok now where's my b***a playlist
I’ll have it by tonight and I’ll get back to you on Christophe too

lmaooooo it’s not disrespectful. Critics job is basically to suggest you an album to listen to. The scores dont define the work. A lot of people also think MBDTF doesn’t deserve a 10. It’s not that serious.
Personally MBDTF and this album are both 8/10. Fiona getting a 10 doesnt take anything away from Kanye.

Yep, I always take critic reviews with a grain of salt, and I don't usually venture too far outside of my preferred genres, but when I saw a new album was getting 10's across the board from virtually every critic I had to tune in. Sometimes I listen to an album generally disliked by critics and enjoy it all, other times I find nothing special in critically acclaimed projects. Many times I more or less agree with the critics. This time was different though, I've never disagreed so much. After the initial surprise that this received a 10, I realized it's as simple as this is way left of the sounds that I prefer, and it may be a masterpiece in it's circle. I'm sure some Fiona fans would be absolutely shocked that MBDTF received a 10 if they don't listen to hip-hop at all and that's cool. If people who prefer alternative say it's an instant classic it probably is, just not for me.
"white artists" is an umbrella term. I dont really know much about shorty my g
Then you should probably refrain from wildly ignorant statements since you don't know what you're talking about.
One of the most honest and big hearted records ever made. Let's make sure to honor Fiona's wisdom too. I felt: 'Yes, that's so true' every third line on here. Her music detoxifies.
has KTT made this album about race yet?
Yep. Idk if you’ve been here but the site is in shambles over this album
Nearly a 40 page thread earlier and at least a 10pg one last night. Also spawned other threads on race, critics and a bunch of dumb s***.
I think it’ll die off. People literally just learned who Fiona Apple was today and I doubt their attention spans are that big to care as much later
Album deserves the acclaim this all comes with the territory

It's just another reminder that a good amount of the posters on this site are clueless about music/art.

my biggest takeaway. not only that but a lot are unwilling to listen to things with open mind and must turn everything into a debate that has to do with everything but music lol

You just gotta listen. Find aspects you like or love and allow the attraction to organically happen. I don’t pretend to like anything I don’t.
When I first listened to Fiona in 2018. I turned that s*** off. The pace was slow and I wasn’t trying to hear it. The next day I listened again. F*** with a few songs. Listened again liked some more. And now I have been a fan for 2 years now 😂

Ladies is my favorite but it might be because it’s also the most “normal” sounding track. Is she a lesbian?

really I never thought of Fiona as bi. I guess when I listen to her music I always think of guys she's in a relationship with.
