Can’t believe I slighty doubted the Brad/Fincher duo

directed by fincher, written by tarantino, starring brad pitt does sort of sound like a fan fic created by film bros. admittedly, this trailer did not really get me hype. film looks sort of ugly as well.

Fincher aesthetic in his films. They're mostly cold and clinical

yeah thats why this has always been such a baffling thing to exist.

fincher is one of the big warriors of digital cameras, carved out industry defining ways for movies to look in the digital age. is known for his cold, clinical, tightly wound visuals. and hes making a sequel to a tarantino movie, a guy whos known for bright grainy filmic hyper cinematic exaggerated visual style that harkens back to cinematic tentpoles from the 60s and 70s. two heavyweights that operate in totally different worlds.

the trailer kinda continues the vibe of the off the rails manson murder portion of tarantinos movie, so maybe theres a thematic way to connect fincher and tarantino though. the bright tarantino era of hollywood is over, things have gone crazy and now we see cliff booth in the dark, clear and cold aftermath

also someone could go in just as deep script wise in how odd it'll be seeing Fincher direct Tarantino dialogue but I'm less worried about that. Fincher wrangled in Aaron Sorkin (and vice versa) and made something incredible so hopefully that contrasting mixture between script and director can lead to something just as good here

That contrast in filmmaking styles could be jarring at first but I'm interested in what Fincher can do with this. Hope this isn't another case of Natural Born Killers lol

Yeah Zodiac was nicely done. It's gonna be weird hopping from the first Hollywood into this one lol

You don’t tell your peers you respect to f*** off, especially if they aren’t stepping on your toes

I would imagine between two greats, that it’s a little imposing but I’d also imagine it’s a bit creatively satisfying to bounce ideas.

Netflix is just such a dirty word for cinema

  • Looks great

  • This is prolly gonna be a heater and the trailer was awesome, I just think visually it could look way better.

Don't really understand the backlash. So what, you want it to look the same instead of having one auteur transmute the DNA of another auteur? Option 2 sounds cooler to me. And calling it Netflix cinematography? Please, this is not Frankenstein.
