I think that exclusive deal via Sony really hurt them with Rebirth

They're still going to say the sales didn't meet expectations

JRPGs sell f**k all on Xbox and Switch 2 didn’t exist back then so that only leaves PC.
Perhaps they should’ve ported it to PS4?
Will be interesting to see how the open-world sections run on Switch 2
Money
A 200+ hour experience in one game would be too much, the vision was far too grand for one release, maybe they could’ve done 2 but it seems like each game has a large enough scope to justify its individual release imo, unless part 3 is super short and trash or something which I doubt
Finally got around to playing this, VII is my favorite FF behind IX, great memories playing it as a kid.
I loved Remake, even tho it was kinda short and the Midgar only focus did somewhat hurt the variety of locations.
Seeing Nibelheim and Kalm in the beginning of this in beautiful HD 3D just tickled some nostalgic feeling man, I already love this game.
We banking on Pt. 3 around Spring 2027?
That sounds about right actually, spring/summer ‘27
Early 2027 for Part III in honour of the original’s 30th anniversary (FF7 released on January 31st, 1997 in Japan)
Just finished the Junon storyline, 100%-ed both the Grasslands and Junon, done all the towers, sidequests, protorelic, scenic photos, whatevers.
The game is beautiful, music is amazing, combat is very satisfying and both of the regions were gorgeous. Like coming into Under Junon with the fishing village beneath the giant airfield was a spectacle.
My biggest gripe is exploration and the lack of incentive for exploration. There's no real reward for exploration beside gaining levels, seeing the sidequests unfold, etc. I can't remember a single useful equipment item I found in the wild, only item transmutation ingredients tbh.
Like all of the weapons I got so far that I use, you find them in chests during main quests.
So you do kind of just explore the regions to check boxes, instead of naturally wanting to explore them to find cosmetic items, cool weapons, etc.
Only really useful thing is the divine shrines so the summon boss fights are easier, but that's basically it.
Still a very good game, just a few gripes I've got so far.
Yeah let’s get Part 3 out
“With the conclusion of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, there’s probably going to be a much wider audience for Final Fantasy as a whole. Whether we bring another new DLC or a full title, that’s something we are actively considering.”
Hold on, a new FULL TITLE that isn’t part III?
FF17 to be based on FF7; same universe but entirely new cast of characters
They can do something cheeky with the title reveal kinda like what they did with Versus XIII -> XV

I agree broskiii
This game finally clicked with me at around chapter 10 - 11. It helped that Cosmo Canyon is a beautiful region and the city itself is so fantastic and entering it via the bridge and looking at the city was a magical experience for a lifelong FF fan.
Up until then I was kinda this is a good game, but I wouldn’t have given it more than a 7.5/10. The locations and the story finally turned up a notch, the stakes are getting higher and I would def give the game a solid 8.5 right now. I’m at chapter 12 now, put in around 60 hours so far, have 100%-ed every region so far, all the sidequests, etc.
I also gotta say - they need to release a standalone Queen’s Blood game ala YuGiOh, that s*** is absolutely amazing
Finally had the time to sit down and complete ch.13 and 14 after almost a month. 80 hours in the game, did almost all the sidequests, 100% every region, did the whole Queen’s Blood quest, etc.
Honestly, for most of the game I thought the 90+ scores on Metacritic, etc. were kinda overrating the game, especially cause I had some valid criticisms of the game, like far too many minigames, most of the items you find kinda being useless, some of the regions being too alike visually, etc.
But the emotions the final two chapters give you, the way they converged Zack and your storylines, the whole Aerith saga, IMO all of it was peak gaming storytelling and left me in tears in some of the places of the storyline. Particularly ch.14, End of the World. From Zack and Biggs, Cloud and Aerith’s (Clerith forever btw) date around a failing Midgar, the whole ending sequence…
If I had to rate the game, I’d give it a 9/10. Remake was, for me, a 8.5/10, so this was def an improvement over the first game.
I’m really looking forward to part three and if they play their cards right, IMO - part three could go down in gaming history as the greatest JRPG ever. It’s a big IF, but just the fact that they’re on that trail speaks volumes. Massive respect for this whole trilogy, honestly.
