No lying. I gotta replay it in English since I swapped to JP halfway through. Not sure which one I'll stick with since they're both really good from what I've heard. Might just go with English because of the lip syncing.

Been playing for 40 minutes and so far have probably “played” for 5 minutes and havnt had a single combat section outside of the tutorial and I’m being forced to sit through JRPG cutscenes and exposition

Comparing it to FF7R, that opening is f***ing fire. Hits right away. You’re fighting insane bosses within 20 minutes.

I usually always use JPN voices but the face animations are actually matched to ENG so I’m using them instead

ENG voices were good in the demo so not a big deal

Interesting to see that mastering the eikon abilities allows you to equip them to any eikon set

So you could have Phoenix dash as your circle, Garuda launch on your triangle, and Titan downward smash that gains power if you use it from higher up on square

You could do all that just by switching eikons with L2 but mastering them makes it easier

I wish we got something more for mastering skills tho

I heard news about JPN VA not getting actual lip sync so I just stuck to English, usually I play games in JPN but since they recorded the original voice lines in English I thought I may as well try it out; did a really good job with it I must say. I tend to like it when British VA is used in JRPGS though, I really liked it in Xenoblade as well

Yea I play xeno in English too. The accents are part of the charm, good or bad. Nopon Japanese voices can’t compare to the English dub

if games are gonna do qtes then they need to be nearly split second so they feel like they matter. Otherwise you might as well not even give the player the option
