lol I had to google how Zantetsuken works I am going to play around with it a lot during NG+ because that one too takes some playing around with or only worthwhile against certain enemies

LIKE WHAT WAS THE POINT OF GETTING RAGNAROK, EXCALIBUR AND GOTTY IF THEY ARE NOT UPGRADABLE.

I get not being able to upgrade boss swords they give you but swords from pain in the ass side quest and hunts should be upgradable in playthrough 1

Lvl 5 insta kills all normal enemies which is great for getting through annoying fights

lol but I don't like that fights become annoying or at a certain point waves of enemies/ filler about patience more than fun

Part of me wants to platinum this game lol I will definitely grow annoyed though

What weapons or abilities helped you most on final boss?

Yeah that’s deadass the worst part is they fr just get spongy. I just zantetsuken regular mfs and save the big stuff for bigger enemies. I think that’s were combos you can pull off really be fun still

I can't believe they really missed the opportunity to have Eikon outside of set points , Eikon abilities used outside of combat or like weapons you could only wield if an Eikon was fully mastered

I feel this way too and this has been my main complaint for XVI, I wrote more about this in the JRPG thread but the way the female characters are written is just awful

Jill pretty much doesn't interact with anyone outside of Clive, there are intense moments in the game where it seems like the writers forget she is Shiva and they just have her stand around, majority of the cutscenes she is in she is either saying nothing or nodding her head, they also give Torgal some background that he is actually a Northern wolf that can transform into Fenrir in order to protect Jill and they never bring it back up in the game? We don't even get a scene with Jill acknowledging Torgals history like what the f\*\*\*?

The games story is entirely focused on Clive and while that does strengthen his character that comes at the expense of literally everyone else (except from Joshua since he is such an important figure in Clives character). When you are on the field and you are taking a side quest the party member that you are currently with pretty much doesn't exist within the context of the sidequest so they don't comment on anything that is going on, I understand this is because party members move in and out of the party but its extremely jarring. For some reason when you do get dialogue between characters in the field its also extremely short and just some small background about the location you are in like "this bridge used to be broken", I feel like the writers got tunnel visioned on writing a story focused on Clive that they forgot they had other characters they actually needed to write about

Garudas spin wheel & bahamuts impulse were CLUTCH for breaking down the stagger meter, like s*** was draining fast af combing those

the Joshua clive conflict in the endgame of not wanting him to transform came across as stupid as f\*\*\* to me too

Aerial Blast was surprisingly worthwhile too

I’d say I’m 70% done with it, I’m taking my time with it though

i think it’s just a feeling i got that they were overly pessimistic in the pre-release stage , and now it just kind of feels like their criticism comes more from contrarianism than anything else. i mean i’m 16 hours in and we’ve already time jumped twice so personally i’ve just decided i won’t come up with any firm criticism until i’m done with the game

70% through final fantasy mode? damn lol my goal just to beat it before Starfield and run through some trophies

Nah cause I was overly pessimistic in prerelease and understand where they are coming from. Same way I understand Skill Up thoughts on it. Lisa is a solid way through the game. I have completed and am replaying and understand some of the concerns I just like the combat and bosses at their best and want to see some of the Final Fantasy mode changes

I have not done a single side quest or hunt and skipped all the cutscenes. I think my biggest thing with NG+ is I hate doing side quest again so I just rush through it

I hate doing side quest again the only one I will have to do is the one to get Ultima weapon BUT THEY NOT GOING TO GIVE IT TO US TIL BASICALLY THE END OF THIS PLAYTHROUGH SO WHATS THE POINT?

we will get it like right before the final boss and it will be fun to kill ultima with it but damn

I’ve seen quite a few people say they were underwhelmed by Barnabas fight cause there wasn’t a 3rd stage, and though I kinda agree with that I think he was my fav battle from a gameplay standpoint cause highkey he was the first boss I died too fr and just a great boss in general, plus it didn’t really drag on like titan or bahamut even tho those were spectacle af

Based, he was also my favourite fight in the game (though I also loved Titan and Bahamut), was the first boss I died too and Barnabas losing his s\*\*\* and being in a state of euphoria and going insane as the fight reaches its conclusion was f\*\*\*ing amazing. His Voice Actor really went off, I will never forget that fight
