You’ve been filming one this year, right? How’s the experience been so far?

I shot two over the summer but they were super small scale

Literally me + my friend + 2 actors

One of the actors is my brother and the other was his partner in his acting class so for them it was about getting some work under their belts

That’s dope. Did you guys need a mic for sound or did it work out without one?

We had some gear already luckily. My friend already has a feature (small indie feature that’s played at a couple festivals but hasn’t been released officially yet) and I’ve got some equipment myself. But we had to get crafty

Took a Rode Shotgun mic I had laying around and used a ladder to make a boom pole. A microphone is key for dialogue so any type of mic you can find will work. Once you take it into post that’s when you put in the work to make it sound better.

I’m gonna look into it. I may have a few contacts I can call on for help. I’m pretty sure I can get something shot for cheap.

Also definitely look into renting gear from a local camera shop if you can

One near me rents out gear and cameras for relatively cheap (when compared to buying)
