Problem being is they tend to be more personal endeavors when you factor in employment opportunities, and college (here in the States at least) is just way too expensive for that.

That’s more industrialization than anything. If we built smarter we wouldn’t have a plethora of vehicles roaming about polluting, we could use public transportation.
Also transition to green energy. We have the technology, it’s primarily the oil and gas industries that are ultimately holding us back.

Does any first world country have the problem they do? Pretty sure the majority of those have a declining birth rate, and developing countries are the ones that have to improve in that respect
