    Idk if you already know but Danny Elfman is the lead. He goes on to compose movie scores for all the Tim Burton movies and such

    The song he produced and co-wrote for Siouxsie and the Banshees is one of my favorites from them.

    But yeah Banshees are nearly top of the pack for me now that I've heard all their 80s stuff. Just behind New Order and maybe tied with Cure.

    First two albums yes squarely punk for sure, but London Calling is like the exemplary crossover album of those two movements. "Train in Vain" alone cements

    Wire count?

    With any genre like New Wave where the term is referring to a certain era/movement and is a catch-all for many different sounds and styles, what "counts" is muddy or hotly debated.

    I doubt anyone would argue against Wire's early albums being Punk and Post-Punk, and they definitely inspired a lot of nascent New Wave musicians. But then they came back from hiatus and were sounding much more like those same New Wave groups they once inspired.

    So i'd say Wire counts. Some might say it depends on the album, but that still means they count

  • Costellos first album with The Attractions is a major masterpiece as well
