I totally get this line of thinking if you OBJECTIVELY have genuine reason to fear that the person breaking in has intent to cause harm to you or your family (especially if it’s some random person you don’t know).

That being said, the guy knew this boy. I highly doubt he came there with violent intent (unless I’m missing info). Murdering someone cause you don’t want them in your house (but you know they’re not trying to cause violence) is psychopath type s***.

He was breaking down the door refusing to stop. He was an ex, he’s not a friend of the family he’s an aggressor. The daughter was afraid he was going to kill her and thanked her dad after and told him there was nothing else he could have done. In what universe is an EX breaking a door in NOT out to cause harm?

I think (would hope at least) nobody is defending the action I think it’s obvious it was an egregious overreaction, that being said you inherently run the risk of people overreacting when trying to enter what they view as their safety nest of someone’s family forcefully. This has been true I’d imagine for the history of humanity

Yeah I haven’t seen anyone who opposes the shooting saying they hate women in this thread.
