might be useful for figuring out interesting color combos for fits or whatever
(been tryna find a free ebook link but no luck. not sure if worth purchase tbh. )

I had some beige linen overalls for gardening ages ago. Preferred those over denim, especially if just for aesthetics and comfort.
Corduroy dungarees always a comfy classic too.

it’s a very small percentage of dudes that can pull off overalls without looking like toddler cosplay

It's really about the fit. Most are made for labour with no aesthetics in mind.
Most are made slim, low rise, and with an ergonomic suspender length a la:
It looks like toddler's overalls and kinda gives the illusion that you've grown too big for overalls you bought while you were still growing. Although if you're going for a juvenile look I guess you should wear those. Doubt that's the general goal here tho.
If you have overalls that are bottom heavy and with short suspenders it looks more pleasing to the eye. Also looks kinda costume-y with striped tops and sneakers so it's better to just go with the workwear formula i.e boots and shirts.
Not having a bib also helps massively.
