camping out on their 80 acre plot in what's basically my provinces grand canyon they don't even have power up here

No amp and I can chuck like 200/300 quid at them
You could get a good pair of low impedance headphones that dont require an amp (32-80 ohms) not sure on the quid to dollar ratio but I just nabbed the Beyer DT770's that sound great all around. Flat, detailed and with a nice bass too. Nothing enhanced or added and let's the music shine.
Grado's are killer for riffs with super engaging mids and really easy to drive.
