Part of the problem is the mediocrity of Zappas voice, he should've just formed a band with Beefheart and let him sing everything
I partially agree but his voice works very well as the satirical prankster. Beefheart wouldn't have his sound even though I'd say he was on a different planet concerning their vocal abilities.

Yeah I know the rapping is subpar but doesn't come close to ruining the album for me. Top 25 in my list. Too nostalgic to not include it.
