The first album introduced their main theme of reflecting on the trauma of a destroyed childhood while returning to the naive state of yesteryear. As they went on they made it lighter with plenty of different influences but they've never reached the intimacy and depression of their early years. The songs overtime changed noisy outburst with "freakish" moments that were also tamed with subsequent albums. Then they were simple childhood noszalgia with a few introvert tweaks but without the deep sadness of Brian Wilson. These albums sound fake to me. Especially MPP. their sellout album.

Many bands better than AnCo in 2000s if we don't count Person Pitch since it's a solo work.
