Shaking the Habitual was in my top 20 for 2010s but there are some unnecessarily awful detours. "Fracking Fluid Injection" and the 19 minute drone piece, regardless of album placement or album flow are not good songs.

The best songs are among the best music created in the last 20 years imo... those first 2 are legendary

by far and away their best. critic consensus was not good enough.

they are good in their own right. listen to more drone and "new music" to get into them. Fracking Fluid Injection is something that reminds me of AnCo's experiments on their mid-00s albums but harsher and more convincing. It's pure Stockhausen.

i remember when it's blitz dropped and it pretty much killed the band for me. then i checked them out again years later when that mosquito song dropped and just felt like the magic was gone. i'll revisit them eventually, i still think karen o is a cool vocalist.

yeah relistening to Shaking the Habitual and I definitely think the pretentious ass tracks clouded my judgment of the fact that the songs that are good are really damn good
