One general piece of advice, not just city pop: check out Yellow Magic Orchestra and the solo careers of their band members. Legit ALL of them went on to make great, influential music.

Ryuichi Sakamoto still makes cutting edge electronic music; I really liked his async album from a couple years ago.

Dorohedoro is great so far, I enjoy the CGI in this it's done really well for the most part. Trigun is worth a watch for sure, but I guess it depends on how you feel about the animation. It's done well just expectedly dated, similar situation as evangelion ig. I like the late 90's early 2000s anime aesthetic a lot
