Freak Out is also better but you hate zappa so I don't expect this argument to have much merit in your eyes

I was actually really impressed with him. I think his performance is very understated. I see a lot of talk that’s he’s outclassed by everybody, but his part practically requires that. I actually found Pattinson a little too hammy, almost felt like he walked off a Harry Potter set.

Blonde obviously a major opus as well but when I was deep diving '66 I decided nobody was touching the Elevators as far as conjuring a totally unique soundscape that transports you to a whole other otherworldly dimension for the entirety of the albums runtime.

Bonus points for it being the first truly psychedelic album and came from Texas of all place which means they risked beatings or even death for being so counterculture there and then.

id still say Fifth Dimension is psych enough overall to get the 1st psych album designation but yeah

eh if the songs were all 8MH quality then yeah but its probably my least favourite Byrds album of the classic run
