They’re both good choices. I like crazy and accessible Flaming Lips equally. Opening track off Yoshima still one of my favorite spring/summer time jams.

At earliest perhaps In a Priest-Driven Ambulance. The first album that became more "Pop". I guess Hit To Death is really the beginning of the real transition. However, none of them is really as baroque as Soft Bulletin. If anything, the closest prior to SB itself would be Zaireeka.
