Producers who actually dig in the crates to find the perfect sample always impress me, gotta figure it takes a lot of effort and music knowledge.
Im p bad at recognizing samples right off except when Paul & Juicy do Isaac Hayes or Willie Hutch
Yeah alot of RZA etc samples are more obvious to me now but I didn't know them back in the day.
Speaking of that just realized the other day that Baby Huey song Hard Times is Curtis Mayfield's song originally
My first albums iirc;
Big Willie Style
Puff Daddy & The Family
36 Chambers/The RZA Hits/Wu Forever
Hard Knock Life
When Disaster Strikes by Busta
Capital Punishment by Big Pun

Rza's production is even more impressive to me now, dude was on another level. I wasn't really listening to much Wu back in the day even tho I knew the group. Do you remember that Wu Tang video game ?

Vaguely yeah
it's was a beat em up right?
And yeah I'm a big classic soul/r&b nerd but whenever I see an interview where RZA is talking old music I realize I don't know s*** lol man is a wizard
also my uncle got me Nine Lives by Aerosmith
did not enjoy
Aerosmith had an arcade game too, one of those scrolling shooters
I was into Daft Punk before Graduation came out and still love Stronger. Into Sabbath way before MBDTF and still love Hell Of A Life.

Only just really dived into Daft Punk and I'm firmly hooked
I mean I always knew them obviously but never dug too deep until now

Cannibal Corpse should've had a game for the SNES

Think around college is when I truly dug into em. Coincidentally was a year before RAM came out

RAM is my least fav as it feels like a collab album more than anything but Contact is one of the best songs they ever did

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2xAhgzzaQNrR0mPv67HWGj?si=81386f8e4d054d41
pls don't go too hard on my young goats
tried to make a quick 1h30min but its always tough to avoid stacking incredible 20+ minute jams with this kind of thing
hopefully you can tap into the vibes of Band and My Morning Jacket stuff that's in their DNA alongside the obvious Phish and Dead
Factory Fiction
Definitely thought I was listening to MMJ then Fleet Foxes for a few moments on these songs

RAM only aged like fine wine for me over the years
Honestly my third fav of theirs with Discovery and Alive as my top 2

Yeah Alive 2007 is above everything else for me but they have no bad albums

First 2 albums really good
RAM not so much

I honestly just have an unfair view of RAM. S*** was f***ing everywhere when it dropped in 2012 and I got sick of it. The 70s funk vibe is cool.
I'll have to... marinate more on it

RAM is elite man
I like that they switched it up and even though it’s 70s funk music, it’s so distinctly Daft Punk even then. Pristine mixing and engineering (still to this day one of cleanest sounding records I’ve ever heard)
Honestly still not a fan of the Panda Bear song (but I’ve never liked his music to begin with so not surprised) but the collabs mostly work for me with Lose Yourself to Dance being one of my fav songs they’ve ever done
ending with this is pretty f***ing sad tho damn. i'd imagine the og fans were full
when this dropped.

epic tho

real
Factory Fiction is a big fan favorite, they usually save it for kinda special moments and don't just play it all the time. ex: started their Madison Square Garden show with it (biggest they've ever played)
i still havent listened to Fleet Foxes
guess i should now
were you able to handle the gnarly 27 minute jam i threw on there, had to pick one from the all time jam playlist to challenge you with

revisiting Attack Of The Clones
Much worse than I remembered aside from a few cool action bits.
Anikan tells Padme that he just murdered a whole tribe of Tusken Raiders, including the women and children. Her response: "to be angry is human"
Also the Jedi council are stupid as f***

Memes for days tho
And ironically George's terrible romance dialogue works perfectly for h**** emotionally awkward teens like Anakin and Padme
