i've actaully been listening to a few 80s hip hop albums lately. forget how innovative some of their production techniques were before sample clearance became an issueThat’s actually one of the things that draw me to 90’s and some 80’s rap albums. The way these producers had to dig for records and have music knowledge to make those beats. Poverty during the crack epidemic, no internet, a ton of other things.. and still competing to be original. Very impressive
