@Elric Whitfield psych soul era Temptations been hitting hard af lately
Whew so many classics. Smiling Faces Sometimes was the last big surprise for me
which ones you loving?
Just getting to the end of that era
this Clipse album not hitting me too hard on first listen ngl
Yeah it's cool but not really blowing me away at all. Unfortunately stating this opinion in the album thread is a death sentence because nobody is allowed to like/dislike certain albums from certain artists without an agenda
@Elric you should get on this
The first one is some intense s*** as far as stand-up goes

still hoping i end up liking it a lot. production just wasnt standing out that much first listen and also wasnt liking the small handful of sung hooks on there

Maybe a few iffy hooks but I love the beats and they're beyond locked in lyrically and delivery wise
Definitely watch the Tiny Desk

Knew it
Dang you missed all the ones I posted in Best Songs thread. Runaway Child, Message From a Black Man, Slave, Ball Of Confusion, Shack, Can't Get Next To You etc s*** is elite psych/funk.
We all know how i feel about Drake lol
With all the s*** ass mainstream rap these days I can't imagine complaining about Clipse
it's amazing
Push been top 5 for me for like 15 years now though I can't resist that diamond hard diction and razor sharp cadence.
Listen again

Opinion = complaining?
I said it's cool but it's not blowing me away. Not sure how that's a complaint vs just a simple opinion

I like it more after a few spins and in the ride. Is it on par with Lord Willin and HHNF, no… but still solid for a mainstream rap album. Tiny Desk was dope too
FICO, Mike Tyson, and Birds are my favs

When i see them live, I want to hear the hits more than the new album

I'm sure they'll do a mix

Equal for me. Chains and Whips was the highlight of Tiny Desk for me. They seemed more enthusiastic about performing the new stuff.

I think they both sound great but it just ain't quite hitting hard enough. Pharrell has a lot to answer for beyond just his dogshit singing

yeah, the general consensus in that Clipse thread seems to be that Pharrell did great on the boards but I'm not hearing it. It feels very evident Chad Hugo was extremely important to that glossy, intricate, original Neptunes sound. And yeah Pharrell sounds absolutely awful. Push and Malice did their damn thing though.

Pharell did the HHNF beats by himself
