not medieval but speaking of historic epics i watched the first 10 minutes of Barry Lyndon the other day before deciding i didnt think i was in the mood for it

Around this time of year I like to return to his most underrated work, Tomorrow Tomorrow and Tomorrow. Of all the weird, ahead-of-its-time works of outsider rock music that I've come across, I find it to be among the most powerful and emotionally affecting.

If I could describe what it sounds like, I would say it's like Pink Floyd and Peter Gabriel-era Genesis made by a deeply depressed Christian with no desire to show off their chops or write songs longer than 5 minutes. It's surreal, meandering and sounds like a sad fever dream. I love every second of it.
