think I'll watch this with my parents next week. Is this your #1 clint film?

Also ur real af for having a Stan Brakhage list on your LB One of the most formative filmmakers I encountered in film school. Along with Chris Marker and Jonas Mekas.

Also @elric I never responded to your comment, but I remember watching Where Is the Friends Home? and Taste of Cherry in my World Cinema class and thinking these have got to be the greatest films I've ever seen. We also watched Paris Texas, The Hole and a bunch of other great films in that class. I met Abbas Kiarostami when I was 18 (he came to a different class when I was a freshman 3 years before) and I had no idea who he was. He showed some really weird 30-minute short film of these seagull eggs being slowly taken away by the tide and I was like who tf is this guy. If only I knew

Imagine meeting one of your future heroes and having no idea who he is.

Drive My Car is still the best film to come out in the last 5 years. Nothing surpasses the Uncle Vanya Chekhov scene at the end with the deaf lady. The Ascent is probably the best film I saw in 2024 though (maybe 2023?) That Alfred Schnittke soundtrack

    yeah should revisit Ascent.

I already know without looking that this; boxd.it/6GvN9p is the best new-to-me-first-watch I did in 2024 (and im usually allergic to French films) strongly recommend @RASIE @Aruji

looking at LB, it's apparently the first first-watch ive given 5 stars to in like 7 years havent done that since Kiss Me Deadly, Miracle In Milan, Harold & Maude and Secrets & Lies in 2018

I listened when it came out and never went back, felt like I had a bit of fatigue for what she's doing. Maybe I should try again, think it'd probably hit harder in the middle of winter
