SLLF may have Big Boi sounding as good as he did on any Kast record but the absence of 3 Stacks is always going to automatically put it behind Kast's best

To be clear, in the same way that if we ever got a 3 Stacks solo, the absence of Big Boi would diminish it v. Kast discog

That was the accepted wisdom when they stopped releasing music together but I spend zero time thinking "damn this could use some 3 stacks" when listening to it
Sorry I missed this buddy
We should definitely try again tomorrow or anytime before Sunday
I know Taking Back Sunday is a s***ty pop emo band but Anytime Before Sunday sounds like an equally if not more so s***ty indie band from 2011.

good take

tbf, it is only counted as OutKast because Big Boi was one half of OutKast. It actually is a different album and succeeds as a Big Boi album. If you take it that way Andre 3000 doesn't appear missing or Big Boi on The Love Below vice versa. The songs themselves are among the finest both have done imo.

Not a fair criticism at all considering it's a Big Boi album, not an OutKast album... that's like criticizing a Paul McCartney album and saying the absence of John Lennon makes it worse when in reality it's not a Beatles album. Makes no sense to me

Exactly. Why criticize something for what it isn't advertised as?

Either way f*** Andre for focusing on s***ty movies and his Gillette advertising campaign instead of making another Outkast album which clearly would've been another 11/10 judging from the quality of SLLF and all the guest verses he was doing at the time
Also, 3 stacks' one contribution to the album is probably my least fav song on there
i know it's just production but still

Andre was still lowkey one of the highlights of High Life
I don't mind him venturing out as an artist. Far as im concerned, the guy has nothing left to prove in music.
plus we already have gotten an Andre solo and it is a masterpiece.

(even though D'Angelo rly the father of this)
I jus say it cuz overall Idlewild is just not interesting enough to hold its own with the rest of Kast's discog. Still a v solid project though.

I didn't mean to suggest it was an outkast album, nor that it needs 3k, only that the two of them together are better imo than either alone.

I mean it's absolutely reasonable to say that you think that the synergy of any band / collaboration is greater than the sum of its parts.

Nah, no point in going over what ifs. It's a big boi album not outkast. Don't go into a big boi album expecting andre 3000 and maybe you'll see how amazing the album is
Finally something we differ on
Something about his aesthetic really keeps bringing me back
I’d darely say he’s the future of rap scene, along with luv

You're strawmanning as if I don't think of it as a big boi album and don't think it's a great album.

Yea and you said 'the absence of 3 stacks' automatically makes it worse than Kast albums. If you know it's a big boi album why even mention 3000 in the first place.
absolutely heretical to me to say SLLF is as good as peak outkast im very sorry guys
@arel and im not saying there's anything wrong with you not liking it as much as OutKast albums, but saying it's because of no andre is flawed since it isnt an outkast album.
