i heard the first album a few years ago and really liked the song Oblivious

Probably my favorite on the album. I don’t care about corny lyrics. However that one seems pretty self aware. All that matters is the appropriate emotion is communicated through the compositions and melody.

There’s stuff on there that feels like Surf’s Up.

I agree but it's still a sorta corny song. Adrianne is earnest enough to sell it though

Yeah, when I saw that title initially my eyebrow raised a little, but the execution I thought was flawless. Had such a timeless gorgeous quality to it. Like a song that’s always existed somewhere.

It’s just the opening line and the rest of it going forward recontexualizes it. If that was like a repeated hook or whatever then I’d get it, but it’s just a way to kick off the melody. I almost don’t hear the lines themselves because the way she sings almost sounds like the words are just ways to accentuate the notes.

Also relistening to it and it reminds me of a Radiohead song, but I can’t quite put my finger on what it is.
