Thank God Its Not Christmas
how bout this
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myaafXacb10Thank God It’s Not Christmas, Equator, and Lost & Found are my other highlights from that album. I like Sparks, but I’m not as high on them as a lot of people know. The cheeky tone of their work kind of takes away from the kinds of sentiments I like expressed through music. Still they’re really fun and creative.
PULP REUNION SHOWS
AND THEY'RE PLAYING IN HOLLYWOOD
AHHHH
and they're not coming anywhere near the PNW
gives me zero regrets flying to see them in England last summer
im like 300 pages into the Madonna: A Rebel Life biography that came out last year and its absolutely stunning
(800 pages total)
how so
@Elric also that Achoo track is amazing. I threw my Bose headphones on and started dancing around my house like a madman. Incredible.

just super in depth and paints a really good picture of her as an artist from all aspects while still being entertaining. author is clearly a fan but still writes in a historical way and goes into the feminist/LGBT angle of her impact a lot which i like. as well as not shying away from some negative parts of her and her personal relationships
im mostly skipping the parts about her acting career though lol. as it goes further along might skip other parts too. goes all the way up to 2020 apparently
Liam and Mugen are basically the same part of my personality
This is groovy af
I had to ask my friend and she said I'm Larry David and Jack Donaghy, Baldwins character from 30 Rock

lol yeah it my favourite from Propaganda and my most listened-to Sparks tune overall

yeah the book goes through a ton of cases where men were basically just cowering in fear from her apparently
"Straight men need to be emasculated. I'm sorry. They all need to be slapped around. Women have been kept down for too long. Every straight guy should have a man's tongue in his mouth at least once."
hilarious quote

I know you’re not a power pop guy, but I think you’d really like Mathew Sweet from the 90’s.

wonder if she tried that on Tupac
make him tap back into his ballet days. Rodman at least was already fancy as f***.

A lot of his other music is very Big Star-ish power pop, but he always gets in really tender stripped back songs like this.

need her to s*** me out

Yeah I've gotten Larry David
I get why he didn’t want this to be the lead single for the album cause it didn’t represent the overall style of that record or the shift in his focus, but damn if it’s not a sweet little pop tune. Would love a minute more of it, but the briefness gives it an added charm. Makes sense why Neon Indian sampled it for Deadbeat Summer.

I've been obsessed with this album for about a year
High level swagger, energy and musicianship. Starts off with a bang and doesn't stop
Barbecutie and Lost And Found are as good as anything on the album proper FWIW

Didn’t realize those 2 were bonus tracks.
