massive BB stan too but even the most perfect version of smile that could have ever been released wouldnt come close. the core of that album is like 5 actual fully realized songs. basement tapes has a dozen of bobs most potent songs plus a million other goofy gems.
What held up the tapes? The accident?

Apparently they were mostly just meant to be demos for other artists to base their versions off of back when he was the most covered artist out there. Dozens of them charted iirc byrds the band etc.
The absolute best stunners on there (Im Not There, Sign On The Cross, Open The Door Homer) seem a little too weird and wild and personal to ever get covered but the madman has always has his own unfathomable reasons for leaving the best material from alot of sessions off the resulting album. He probably knew he could hone it down into another massive album but this was after his "motorcycle accident" and he was going super antisocial mode. Wasnt till 7 year later (after the album sessions singlehandedly invented the rock bootleg industry they were so fiercely sought after) did Robbie Robertson finally convince Bob to release it. He was balls deep into recording Blood On The Tracks tho and wanted nothing to do with it unfortunately so Robbie had free reign to inject himself even further into Bobs mythology by putting a whole bunch of fugazi Band renditions on there that werent even f***ing recorded at the time. Peppered the album with his own s*** and picked really weird choices for Bob. Left off a handful of outright masterpieces. F***ing Robbie.
Better than no representation at all
Wasnt complaining, just saying.. I know most people here arent riff heads

You, Koala, riffwanker, drj, Gordon.(hoping you all vote) 5/25 would be good chances to possible get some riff overlap and a few potential other voters. Could get a few in the top 50 mayybe.

Any time in April would be appreciated. Don't feel rushed but i do want them as soon as you can make it.
okay I concede. after watching Double Indemnity and Sunset Boulevard only one day apart from each other I have to say Sunset Boulevard > Double Indemnity. I have very few minor issues with both films but SB's set is just marvellous and the story somehow more gripping. Perhaps due to the visual splendor.
