yeah i think the combination of anthemic and devastating quality is a big reason why his fanbase is so rabid. hes got some songs that make me emotional even though i cant relate to them personally

Seeing Exile in Guyville played in full tonight was one of those "I want to go home and record" kind of things for me. It's still early, I'll probably do some overdubs.

I hadn't really recognized it until recently but early Liz is one of my biggest influences. Great songwriting with simple but sticky chord choices and no lyrical filter whatsoever. She's also a deeply assured and confident person with charisma for days. Of course I want to be that cool. Sometimes I am.

I don't have video of it, but I did F*** and Run at one of my first open mic performances. Maybe I'll bring that one back.

    Zama

Lucrecia Martel is great. I loved La Cienega and been meaning to watch Zama since it premiered at Venice, as well as the Headless woman. Watching the Battle of Algiers at the moment but i'll try and peep Zama after I finish it.

tarkovsky for sure a contender for the greatest auteur/arthouse filmmaker but I actually haven't seen all his films
