I haven’t veered that deep outside Portishead when it comes to the genre. I’m just saying their take on it is fantastic. I mean there’s nothing else that sounds exactly like this. Should have spawned a million imitators.

yeah it’s been kinda cold in Chicago, but 3 days ago we had a random 80 degree one
It’s wild

Yeah it just went from summer to autumn to winter in the span of ten days. Thick ass frost out there rn.
They cite their influences on that record as like Talk Talk and The xx so more spacey sparse stuff mixed with the indie electronic sounds going on at the time.
Idk Plastic and Machine Gun get gnarlier than I ever heard those guys get
Small turns into straight up space rock with guitars that could be straight out of '67
2,000 words on my novel so far
just keeping it consistent, writing ~500 words a day and editing as I go. this writing s*** is fun and so rewarding already

Kinda getting like a hip James Taylor vibe here

The a.s.o album from earlier this year has some Portishead influence. It's a bit all over the place and borrows from loads of wonky late 90s British pop. There's a bit of Saint Etienne, Massive Attack and even All Saints' Pure Shores (the greatest song of all time) in there as well. This is probably the most Portisheady track, whole album is worth a listen though

Hard
just watched Craven’s New Nightmare the other day
that’s a good one, not quite as classic as Dream Warriors tho
ngl i was so f***ing manically depressed the past few months, but i’m feeling a newfound appreciation for life and everything in it
I used to want to be a writer, even considered applying to the graduate program at Syracuse that George Saunders teaches. But holy hell that is a stressful career unless you're exceptionally talented...
I had a couple extremely successful writers/novelists that taught me at Syracuse, and looking back they were the best teachers I ever had.
As a hobby writing is great, especially if you need a creative outlet that's lacking from your life.

we're all gonna make it bros
the 20s can be tough just keep working on yourself and your passions and all will reveal itself in the end

Yes I actually really like that one from what I remember, a meta Freddy Krueger movie haha
Trying to get through Inland Empire at the moment
Love that one, but I’m more of a Lost Highway guy.
