The minute my gf left to Europe for 3 weeks all the old Sith lords started knocking lol it was uncanny

My best friend moved to Colorado for the military so I rarely get to see him. He just announced he’s gonna be a father soon — which is awesome, but I’ll probably see him even less. Most of my other buddies have sort of drifted apart. Damn it’s lonely around here lmfao.

There's a point in your 20s where you and a lot of friends just.. drift apart

I'm kinda cool with it at this point. It's mostly just me and my girl and I'm honestly content with that.

But I'm also an only child and used to having friends come and go.

For sure. It’s just I wish I still had the family support. I’m down to just my mother and my cousin.

I'm lucky my sister and two nephews live right around the corner and I still have two thirds of my best friends around. Everybody's so busy it's kind of hard to get together and people out here kind of famous for being bad at socializing. Observing the way Brits and Irish still go out and socialize like crazy inspired me to be a little less of a hideout but inflation makes almost any outing sting.

The only blood family I care about is my mother and she's always been there for me

My sister and I were close but still feel like the best friends I ever had dude wise were only children we always fulfilling the brother role for eachother in a way. Never maintained my friendships as much with dudes that had brothers.

I had friends I was super close with for years but life just gets in the way. Friends I literally considered brothers since childhood. Life just gets in the way of everything. It sucks, but you move on.

completely unrelated but seeing this painting in person at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris was an unreal experience.

But yeah being an only child definitely molds you into a certain kind of person. I had a lot of cousins and s*** but it's not the same.

It's weird being down to just my mum and no more grandparents. My sister had a very near miss with brain cancer a decade ago and turned from super straight laced woman into the biggest medicinal weed stoner on earth so that's been fun.

Lots of aunties and uncles and cousins elsewhere in the province I'm decently close with.

My gf's parents came met right after then moved here from Germany and Czech in the 80s so she has zero family here but a time back in Europe. She gets super overwhelmed at my family gatherings during the holidays lol.
