I plan on listening to some Siouxsie during the time between now and deadline.
You can skip Joanna's debut. It's cool but she hit a creative breakthrough on Ys. IF you don't like that one because of her voice still being a bit grating, Have One on Me might be better for you. (She had a throat injury before HOoM and after recovering had a much softer voice.) The arrangements are bit more lively on HOoM as well, opposed to the mostly skeletal harp soliloquys on YS. Divers is just decent as well compared to her 2 masterpieces.
Ok well don't skip Peepshow which is deep into the 80s
I can't imagine being how rewarding it would have been to be an og late 70s Cure/JD/Banshees stan in the late 80s when Technique, Peepshow and Disintegration were all dropping
@Bizzle only 150 more pages of Wind Up Bird
man this novel has been phenomenal so far. love seeing Murakami go all in on themes he only touched on in his other novels like adultery and romantic love.
love the rotating cast of weird, mysterious characters, even though the way he writes May Kasahara’s character is kinda hilariously melodramatic and off kilter at times lmao.
btw you need that Kafka On the Shore in your life next
shorter than Wind Up, but it’s my fav Murakami of the 5 I’ve read
I know I've recommended this like three time but I really love this short The Second Bakery Attack by Murakami that you should check out

Apparently there's a First Bakery Attack short story as well but I don't think it's been translated into English
Definitely a mistake then. I had a separate list of albums I had planned to listen to in the 70’s when we were doing those lists and some of it must have got mixed up in there.
Still can’t get into the Banshees
i like them a bit but probably not even gonna make my list

Seriously I don’t remember this at all. Maybe it was a dumb gut reaction. Whatever the case is—my stance on it currently is that it’s just writing for the sake of writing with nothing really that interesting around it to back it up.

Joanna not on Spotify?

Listened to S-K debut and Call the Doctor yesterday. S*** rocks

Definitely and that’s fair. I certainly look like an idiot, but I’m just being honest. I really don’t remember any of that.

I’ll give Hejira another try in a different head space. There’s just a sincere youthful emotion to Blue that I don’t get from much of her later stuff. Like as if she got too full of herself as a songwriter.

Divers and the debut are great too though. Divers my fav sometimes. many gorgeous songs on there that are appealing for their more conventional/easier to follow structures, and it’s not way too f***ing long like Have One on Me (which also has a bunch of amazing songs, just too damn long for me)

GANG
The Last Song and Heart Attack are two of my fav songs of all time, pure f***ing raw emotion
