Listened to the new Sufjan. At first I was unsure of how the massive sounding production would compliment the intimate emotions, but once I got to the tracks Genuflecting Ghosts and My Red Little Fox especially—it totally sunk in. He’s found a balance somehow between cosmic weight and vulnerability. I keep replaying those two songs and the last couple minutes of track 9 are truly sublime. Like ascending to heaven while breathing a sigh of relief.

Absolutely. I would definitely have more affection for that if it was a one off. There’s an interesting evolution from Earl to Doris to IDLSIDGO to SRS, but he hasn’t evolved much since.
