The question is whether a female fronted band with all male band members is a 'female artist'?

Yes. Options too narrow otherwise. No Patti or Karen or Motown or girl groups etc.

    To you

But I'll def allow any group where the only vocalist is female

Shared lead vocals I don't think will count. I need to draw the line somewhere as much as I like Jefferson Airplane.

    I think it will be

    Solo female artists
    All female groups
Unisex bands where the lead vocals are only female (no shared vocals with male).

    Makes sense

Good point guess I'm overcomplicating it + that would help the list in general from becoming too stringent

What about an artist that was a man when they recorded an album, but is now a woman?

Letterboxd can stink cause you’ll be scrolling and see a review from someone you follow where they dismiss an element of a film that really emotionally affected you. For example there’s this one ballad produced by Ennio Morricone from a 70’s horror movie that I think is a really beautiful song and I just saw it called “horrible” and it kinda stung a little lol. Maybe I need to just not care what other people think.

    which ballad?

    which ballad?

It’s super sentimental and melodramatic, but there’s an off putting haunting quality to it especially in context to it being in a pretty grimy exploitation rape revenge film. It’s the juxtaposition.

I've seen three concerts in three days: The 1975, Little Simz and Weyes Blood. I could talk about all of them at length, God, I'm so blessed, but tonight deserves a longer post.

Perfume Genius opened for Weyes Blood and was one of the best opening acts I've seen. He's just different at this point, so much confidence and camp and he has an incredible discography after all this time. 52 minutes and not a second wasted.

Between sets though...man. Saw my ex and we haven't talked in a year I've talked about her before. She's the BPD girl who changed my life and gave me so much self confidence, only to snap and accuse me of rape and try to ruin my life. This show was at the f***ing Greek so the odds of being in the same line at the same time isn't great, but it happened.

Bro I was SICK. I hate that another person still has that much pull of my emotions, it's actually embarrassing, but she still does. Nausea, panic, everything, and yet I still have a lot of love for her and it took everything to not run over to her and embarrass myself. I reached out to a friend who has been through something very similar and he calmed me down. Thankfully, I got out of there without ever interacting with her again.

And then, you know, there was still a Weyes Blood set to watch. I bought some overpriced whiskey once my ex was out of the drink line, got to my seat and started crying. The people around me probably thought I was nuts. The first song Natalie plays is It's Not Just Me, It's Everybody and bruh I was f***ing gone. She has to be one of the most beautiful people on the planet and every second of that set was sublime.

The whole set I was just like

The final lyrics of the night were apropos:

    Picture us better
We finally found a winter for your sweater
Got a brand new big suit of armor, it's tough
Since you left, I've grown so much
If I could have seen you just once more
Tell you how much you're adored
    There's no point turning more
Waiting for the call from beyond
    Waiting for something with meaning
    To come through soon

Anyway, I have a lot of s*** I need to work out that I thought I was over but clearly not! I'm going to write for a while and go to bed.

I have one of those exes floating around town still don't cry but get embarrassingly, visibly flustered whenever I see her (my gf noticed this despite all attempts to hide it and part of my soul died). Was only with her for 3 years which was like 7 years ago now but first love s*** never goes away.

holy s*** dude the third paragraph is one of my worst fears.

I think I mentioned this in a recent post but I have a cousin with BPD and she's been to the psych ward 250+ times. I have amazing sympathy for someone like that but would never date them.

glad you had a good time tho ultimately.
